Licensed in New York
A lawyer admitted to practice in New York must give a name, address and telephone number on all methods of advertising, so that you know where to contact the lawyer. If a self-proclaimed motorcycle attorney is listed as being in almost every city in every state in the country — that's virtually impossible. The lawyer claims to be able to represent you in an attempt to get your business. Then he (or she) farms out your case to another lawyer and collects a fee for the referral.
Ask the lawyer to personally handle your case. If there is any hesitation, you have your answer.

Motorcycle Attorney
Some attorneys claim to know motorcycles and motorcycle accidents. Does their web site say that they primarily handle motorcycle accidents, or is motorcycle injury just a blurb on a single page? Nearly every personal injury lawyer in New York claims to handle motorcycle accidents. That doesn't mean that he or she ever handled a motorcycle accident case or even understands motorcycles.
If you call the attorney, say you had a run in with a cage and the attorney responds, "Huh?", then perhaps you don't have the right law firm.
