People may joke about nipple surfing, but road rash from a bike crash is no laughing matter. Serious road rash is like a burn. It takes time to heal, and some people never heal completely. Keloidal (raised, unsightly) scarring is an unfortunate result of some road rash injuries.
As a New York biker lawyer, I've seen the results of major road rash and have been able to represent individuals who did not break a bone, but had serious pavement injuries.
A bit of advice: Wear gloves! Long pants, boots, a jacket and gloves will give you some protection if you pull a Superman. The more coverage the better.

Seek immediate medical treatment if you lost some skin in a motorcycle/car accident. Failure to seek medical care can not only damage your healing, but also your legal case. As an experienced attorney biker, I have seen the results of a big end skid. Here are some thoughts for you to consider:
Keloids have been called the scars that don't know when to stop. Technically, a keloidal scar is a fibrotic, benign tumor formed by scar tissue that grows over and exceeds the boundaries of the original scar. Some people get them and other people don't. They are resistant to medical treatment.
If you were in a motorcycle accident and ended up with either minor or major road rash, please contact BIKR LAW toll free at 1-877-BIKR LAW (1-877-245-7529) or send me an e-mail. I'd be proud to help a fellow biker.
